Last Updated: August 9, 2026
Thank you for visiting the website of Sawblade Software and using our applications. We take the protection of your personal data very seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, process, and protect your information when you visit our website or use our software applications, in accordance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable German data protection laws.
1. Data Controller
The "Controller" responsible for processing your personal data under this Privacy Policy is:
Sawblade Software
Jonas Kohl
Bassenheimer Straße 1A

Germany
Email: contact@sawblade.software

2. Website Data Collection and Cookies
Our website is designed to minimize the collection of personal data. We do not track your browsing behavior, nor do we use third-party analytics or marketing cookies.
We only use two essential technical cookies to ensure the proper functioning and user experience of our website. Under the German Telecommunications-Telemedia Data Protection Act (TDDDG) and the GDPR, these cookies do not require your explicit consent because they are strictly necessary to provide the service you requested.
- Session Cookie: A temporary cookie required to maintain website functionality during your visit. It is automatically deleted when you close your browser.
- Theme Cookie: A functional cookie that remembers your visual preference (light, dark, or automatic system theme). It stays stored on your device so you do not have to reset it on every visit.
3. Software Applications: Updates and Anonymous Usage Reports
Our desktop/mobile software applications include optional features that connect to our servers to check for updates and send usage statistics. You can disable these features at any time during the setup process.
When the software checks for updates or sends a report (at most once every 24 hours), it transmits the following telemetry data package:
- id: A random Globally Unique Identifier (GUID) generated specifically for that individual transmission. It is used solely to prevent and de-duplicate identical server requests.
- iid: An installation Globally Unique Identifier (GUID) generated randomly when you first install the software. This identifier is unique to that specific installation and differs between products. It cannot be linked to your real-world identity.
- productVersion: The specific version number of the software you are running.
- localTimestamp: The local date and time on your device when the request was sent.
- os: The name and version of your operating system (e.g., Windows 11).
- is64: A boolean flag indicating whether your operating system is a 64-bit system.
- locale: The 4-letter regional and language code of your operating system (e.g., en-US, de-DE).
Your IP address will not be recorded.
3.1 Legal Basis for Processing
The processing of this data is based on our Legitimate Interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Our legitimate interests include ensuring the security and stability of our software, delivering critical software updates, and optimizing product performance based on aggregated technical trends.
3.2 Data Anonymization and Retention
This data is processed anonymously. We do not log your full IP address alongside this telemetry data, meaning we cannot link this information to a specific individual, network, or location. We store this aggregated technical data only as long as necessary to analyze software performance and guide development.
4. Server Log Files
When you access our website or when our applications query our server, the server hosting the site automatically collects and stores technical information in "Server Log Files". Your browser or application transmits this data automatically. It includes:
- IP address (anonymized or stored short-term for security purposes)
- Date and time of the server request
- Target URL/File requested
- HTTP status code
- Amount of data transferred
- Referrer URL (the site visited right before)
- Browser type and version / User-Agent string
This data is required for technical reasons to display the website securely and to ensure server stability. The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Server logs are automatically deleted or anonymized after a short period (typically 7 to 14 days) unless needed to investigate a security incident.
5. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your data with third parties for marketing or commercial purposes.
Your data is only processed on web servers located within the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA) that comply with GDPR standards. If we use a third-party web hosting provider to operate our servers, they act strictly as a Data Processor under a written Data Processing Agreement (DPA) pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR.
6. Your Rights under the GDPR
As a data subject residing in the European Union, you hold the following rights under the GDPR regarding your personal data:
- Right of Access (Art. 15 GDPR): You have the right to request confirmation as to whether your personal data is being processed, and to receive a copy of that data.
- Right to Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR): You have the right to request the correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
- Right to Erasure / "Right to be Forgotten" (Art. 17 GDPR): You can request the deletion of your personal data under certain conditions.
- Right to Restrict Processing (Art. 18 GDPR): You have the right to limit how we use your data in specific scenarios.
- Right to Data Portability (Art. 20 GDPR): You can request to receive your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
- Right to Object (Art. 21 GDPR): You have the right to object to data processing that relies on our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Important Note on Telemetry Data: Because the usage data transmitted by our software (id and iid) is completely anonymous and cannot be traced back to an IP address, email, or name, we generally do not possess the technical means to identify your specific records in our database. Therefore, we may not be able to locate, delete, or provide a copy of your specific telemetry data upon request unless you can provide additional identifying verification (Art. 11(2) GDPR).
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the contact details provided in Section 1.
7. Right to Lodge a Complaint
If you believe that our processing of your personal data violates the GDPR, you have the right to lodge a formal complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). You can contact the supervisory authority in your usual place of residence, your workplace, or the state of Germany where our business is located.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our software functionalities, legal requirements, or hosting infrastructure. We will post any updates directly to this page and adjust the "Last Updated" date at the top.
